We use our Grandmother’s recipes

to recreate indulgent desserts from a bygone era

At Nana Browns house there would always be strawberry jam bubbling away on the stove, with jars standing by ready to be filled.

I remember picking her up in my Triumph Spitfire, and off to the strawberry farm we would go to pick strawberries. Her Victoria Sandwich Sponge Cake always took pride of place at the Sunday tea table. Delicious and filled with freshly whipped cream and freshly made strawberry jam, and lightly dusted with icing sugar.

Why Flo & Ada you ask?

Well, Flo White was my Father’s Mother, and Ada Brown was my Mother’s Mother. Both my grandmothers loved to cook and bake.

The recipes used for our high teas are from both grandmothers. We use their recipes, (some handwritten, and some typed on a typewriter) to make sure our family recipes are enjoyed by all.

About Bev

I lived in the south of England and grew up with Cream Teas, Devonshire Teas and High Teas.

Traditional teas are a big part of English culture, the associated etiquette that went with tea, what was eaten, when it was eaten and how it was served, is as important to me now as it was back then.

I emigrated to Australia where I delighted in learning about and living in a culturally rich country.

I have blended the English tradition of High Tea with the use of Australian native fruits, plants and berries and wonderful Warndu teas.

My love of being in the kitchen is in my blood, from a young age I can remember watching and helping in the kitchen. I remember waiting at Nana White’s front door (with the cat) for the ‘fish lady’ who called every Friday with a van full of fresh fish. Skate, Plaice, Smoked Haddock, Cod, Jellied Eels, Cockles, Mussels, Scampi and of course a bag of fish heads for Ginger the cat.
